An adult sized mens hand knitted v-neck button cardigan sweater that is made in the Aran style from all natural bainin wool. Bainin refers to untreated natural sheep's wool. This item is made in Ireland from 100% Irish bainin wool and has been hand knitted (not loomed) in the Aran style.

According to folklore, the stitches used to knit each sweater was unique to specific family and therefore were used as a method of identification. Other folklore suggests that each type of stitch held special meaning that were integral to Irish life and culture and others often associate the stitches to the interlacing patterns that can also be seen in Celtic knotwork.

Made in Ireland. Please note that the item is manufacturered in UK sizes and that the US size shown is based on the approximate equivalent size. UK sizes are the same as those sizes used for US jackets and suits. Available in several different sizes.
